Working Working Magazine just launched thier 2017 list of the best companies for creatives. The list is in it’s fourth year and brags the top 50 companies for creatives and designers, all pooled from around 600 votes. Most of the companies are well known, but some are a little off the radar. You can see the alphabetized break down of each company in the gallery above or below the break.

Twenty companies have remained on the list since its inception: Among them, agencies 72andSunny, Barton F. Graf, Droga5, BBDO, Mother, and Wieden & Kennedy. Tech giants including Airbnb, Apple, Google, NASA and SpaceX also scored their fourth placements, as did design firms IDEO, Pentagram, Sagmeister & Walsh and Buck, entertainment companies Disney and Pixar, retailers Nike and Patagonia, and auto brand Tesla.

Seven companies landed on the list for the first time: Instagram, agency Chandelier Creative, brand experience design firm Collins, online retailer Everlane, email marketing company Mailchimp, creative and tech production company Mediamonks, and design and animation company Oddfellows.



72 And Sunny

72andSunny is an advertising agency with offices in Los Angeles, Amsterdam and New York City . It was founded in 2004 by John Boiler (now CEO), Glenn Cole (now chief creative officer), and Robert Nakata (now design director).
It’s credited with helping Samsung overtake Apple Inc. in cell phone sales.
It was named “Agency of the Year” in 2013 and again in 2014 by Advertising Age and Adweek. In November 2017, According to the reports, It is said that 72andSunny and WPP’s VML are the agencies “certified” by the equality advocacy group.


Adam & Eve DDB

In 2012, Adam & Eve DDB was created from the merger of DDB London with the fast-expanding independent Adam & Eve. DDB, is a worldwide marketing communications network. It is owned by Omnicom Group Inc, one of the world’s largest advertising holding companies. By 2016 Adam & Eve DDB was one of the networks best performing offices worldwide.



Adidas is a multinational corporation, founded and head-quartered in Herzogenaurach, Germany, that designs and manufactures shoes, clothing and accessories. It is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe, and the second largest in the world, after Nike.


Adult Swim

Adult Swim is the adult-oriented nighttime programming block of the American children’s cable network Cartoon Network, operating daily from 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. Eastern and Pacific Time. It is programmed by Williams Street Productions, a subsidiary of Turner, which also developed two other programming blocks for Cartoon Network: Toonami (which later became a block on Adult Swim in 2012) and Miguzi.



Airbnb is an online marketplace and hospitality service, enabling people to lease or rent short-term lodging including vacation rentals, apartment rentals, homestays, hostel beds, or hotel rooms. The company does not own any lodging; it is merely a broker and receives percentage service fees (commissions) from both guests and hosts in conjunction with every booking. It has over 3,000,000 lodging listings in 65,000 cities and 191 countries, and the cost of lodging is set by the host.


AKQA is a digital agency that specializes in creating digital services and products. It employs 2,000 staff globally.
AKQA has offices in Europe (Amsterdam, Berlin, Gothenburg, London, Paris, Venice), North America (Atlanta, New York, Portland, San Francisco, Washington, D.C.), South America (São Paulo), Asia (Gurgaon, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo) and Australasia (Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney).


Amazon is an American electronic commerce and cloud computing company based in Seattle, Washington that was founded by Jeff Bezos on July 5, 1994. The tech giant is the largest Internet retailer in the world measured by revenue and market capitalization, and second largest after Alibaba Group in terms of total sales.


Anomaly is definitely not an “Ad Agency.” The company sets store by developing its own intellectual property, which it can license to clients in return for share in revenues. Their aspiration is to be a product developing IP company, marketing their own portfolio of IP as well as doing that for major brands.


No surprise here is the American multinational technology company headquartered in Cupertino, California that designs, develops, and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and online services. The company’s hardware products include the iPhone smartphone, the iPad tablet computer, the Mac personal computer, the iPod portable media player, the Apple Watch smartwatch, the Apple TV digital media player, and recently, the HomePod smart speaker.

Barton F. Graf

Barton F. Graf is a full-service, creatively led communications agency. AdAge A-List: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012 Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies: 2014.


BBDO is a worldwide advertising agency network, with its headquarters in New York City. With it’s inception in 1891, Worldwide has been named the “Most Awarded Agency Network in the World” by The Gunn Report for six consecutive years beginning 2005. It has won “Network of the Year” at the Cannes Lions five times. With more than 15,000 employees in 289 offices in 80 countries, it is the largest of three global networks (BBDO, DDB, TBWA) of agencies in Omnicom’s portfolio

Blizzard Entertainment

Best known for it’s Overwatch and World Of Warcraft Series, Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. is an American video game developer and publisher based in Irvine, California, and is a subsidiary of the American company Activision Blizzard. The company was founded on February 8, 1991, under the name Silicon & Synapse by three graduates of the University of California, Los Angeles.


Buck is a design-driven creative commercial production company with offices in Los Angeles, New York and Sydney. Buck is an international collective of directors, producers, digital artists, graphic designers, illustrators and animators that combine their skills to create innovative media across all mediums for advertising, technology, and entertainment clients.

Chandelier Creative

A full service creative agency with a global roster of clients from the worlds of retail, fashion, beauty, hospitality, and luxury lifestyle. “We create new companies — and fix old ones. Challenger brands get us excited. We use culture to create progress in the world. We shine a light on the innovators, creators, and explorers who push their industries forward.”


Collins is an independent, brand experience design company.
They design products, environments and communications that transform brands, drive business and improve people’s lives.


The Walt Disney Company, commonly known as Disney, is an American diversified multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate, headquartered at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California. It is the world’s second largest media conglomerate in terms of revenue, after Comcast.





Droga5 is a New York City-based global advertising agency with an additional office in London. The agency works across all platforms including, broadcast, print, digital and social, experiential and out-of-home. Some of Droga5’s most recognizable work includes campaigns for The New York Times, Marc Ecko, Newcastle Brown Ale, Android and Under Armour.
Droga5 has been named Agency of the Year 13 times and has been one of Advertising Age’s Agency A-list honorees for seven years running (2010–2017)



Everlane is an online clothing retailer. The organization is headquartered in San Francisco, California and has a small team in New York City. It is a leader in sustainable apparel and pricing transparency.


As Facebook ballooned from college novelty to a tech titan, the core product evolved alongside its creative team, going from a one-man show to the kind of company that builds housing complexes for its well-appointed employees.
Looking at how Facebook’s website has evolved over the years, you can see parallels between the site’s looks and design and how designers have been a large part of that.

Giant Ant

GiantAnt is a creative studio in Vancouver that specializes in animation and motion graphics. They write, direct and produce stories for a carefully-chosen list of clients who want to “change the way we see the world.”


Google is an American multinational technology company that specializes in Internet-related services and products. These include online advertising technologies, search, cloud computing, software, and hardware. Google was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were Ph.D. students at Stanford University, in California

Google Creative Lab

Google Creativ lab is a “small team within Google”. They work for any Google projects — from Android to Chrome. The whole point of the team is to communicate what Google has to offer. Creative Lab is not an ordinary advertisement department.
The team is the mix of people with background from design, fashion, filmmaking.


HBO is the oldest and longest continuously operating pay television service (basic or premium) in the United States, having been in operation since November 8, 1972.


Headspace is a digital service that provides guided meditation sessions and mindfulness training. Its content can be accessed online, or via their mobile apps. In April 2016, Headspace claimed to have over 6 million people using the app.


Huge is a digital agency providing strategy, marketing, design, and technology services to Fortune 100 companies. The company was founded in 1999 and was named the fastest-growing marketing agency in 2009 by Advertising Age. Huge has offices in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Portland, Washington, D.C., São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Atlanta, Toronto, Bogota, Medellin, Singapore, Oakland, London, and Detroit. Huge’s designers are evenly divided between graphic designers and interaction designers who collaborate with each other while also working with others in the company from other disciplines.


IDEO (pronounced “EYE-dee-oh”) is an international design and consulting firm founded in Palo Alto, California, in 1991.
The company uses the design thinking methodology to design products, services, environments, and digital experiences. Additionally, the company has become increasingly involved in management consulting and organizational design.


Instagram is a mobile, desktop, and Internet-based photo-sharing application and service that allows users to share pictures and videos either publicly, or privately to pre-approved followers. It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, and launched in October 2010 as a free mobile app exclusively for the iOS operating system.


They describe themselves as a digital brand and experience innovation company in Portland, Oregon. Instrument. Though not much can be found on them on the web, the have a ton of stellar clients from Youtube, Nike, and New York Times.


MailChimp is a marketing automation platform and an email marketing service and a trading name of its operator, Rocket Science Group, an American company founded in 2001.


MediaMonks is a creative digital production company producing websites, games, and films, often to serve the needs of advertising agencies. The company’s head office is based in Hilversum, the Netherlands.


is a creative agency with offices in London, New York and Buenos Aires. Mother is the UK’s largest independent advertising agency. The agency’s philosophy is “To make great work, have fun and make a living. Always in that order.”


The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is an independent agency of the executive branch of the United States federal government responsible for the civilian space program, as well as aeronautics and aerospace research

National Geographic

National Geographic, formerly the National Geographic Magazine, is the official magazine of the National Geographic Society. It has been published continuously since its first issue in 1888, nine months after the Society itself was founded. It primarily contains articles about science, geography, history, and world culture. The magazine is known for its thick square-bound glossy format with a yellow rectangular border and its extensive use of dramatic photographs.


Netflix is an American entertainment company founded by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph on August 29, 1997, in Scotts Valley, California.
In June 2014, Netflix unveiled a global rebranding: a new logo, which uses a modern typeface with the drop shadowing removed, and a new website UI. The change was controversial; some liked the new minimalist design, whereas others felt more comfortable with the old interface. In July 2014, Netflix surpassed 50 million global subscribers, with 36 million of them being in the United States.

The New York Times

The New York Times needs no introduction, but the American newspaper based in New York City boasts worldwide influence and readership. Founded in 1851, the paper has won 122 Pulitzer Prizes, more than any other newspaper.

The New Yorker

The New Yorker is an American magazine of reportage, commentary, criticism, essays, fiction, satire, cartoons, and poetry. It is published by Condé Nast. Started as a weekly in 1925, the magazine is now published 47 times annually, with five of these issues covering two-week spans.


Nike is an American multinational corporation that is engaged in the design, development, manufacturing, and worldwide marketing and sales of footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories, and services. The company is headquartered near Beaverton, Oregon, in the Portland metropolitan area. It is the world’s largest supplier of athletic shoes and apparel.


Oddfellows is a design and animation studio with offices in Portland and San Francisco. They thrive on projects that match purpose with play, partnering with select clients who have big ideas in need of careful handling.


Patagonia, Inc. is an American clothing company that sells outdoor clothing marketed as sustainable. The company was founded by Yvon Chouinard in 1973, and is based in Ventura, California. Its logo is the skyline of Cerro Fitz Roy in Patagonia.


Pentagram is a design firm. It was founded in 1972, by Alan Fletcher, Theo Crosby, Colin Forbes, Kenneth Grange, and Mervyn Kurlansky at Needham Road, Notting Hill, London. The company has offices located at London, New York City, San Francisco, Berlin and Austin, Texas.
Pentagram does work in graphic design, identity, architecture, interiors and products. They have designed packaging and products for many well known companies, such as Tesco, Boots, 3Com, Swatch, Tiffany & Co., Dell, MasterCard, Netgear, Nike and Timex


Pixar Animation Studios, is an American computer animation film studio based in Emeryville, California that is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. Pixar is best known for CGI-animated feature films created with RenderMan, Pixar’s own implementation of the industry-standard RenderMan image-rendering application programming interface.


R/GA is an American international advertising agency headquartered in New York — with additional offices in Austin, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, London, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Singapore, Sydney, Berlin, Portland. Bucharest and Tokyo. The agency is part of the Interpublic Group of Companies, one of four global advertising holding companies. R/GA creates advertising and marketing products based in technology and design.

Sagmeister & Walsh

Sagmeister & Walsh is a creative agency based in New York City. They are a full-service studio creating strategy, design & production across all platforms. They specialize in brand identities, campaigns, social strategy & content creation, commercials, websites, apps, books, environments, and more.


SNASK is a Brand, Design and Film agency situated in the heart of Stockholm. Their work is frequently internationally referenced and results in brand platforms, graphic identities, short films, handmade photo installations, communication strategies, design manuals, stop motions, TV commercials and carefully crafted corporate love-stories.


SpaceX, is an American aerospace manufacturer and space transport services company headquartered in Hawthorne, California. It was founded in 2002 by entrepreneur Elon Musk with the goal of reducing space transportation costs and enabling the colonization of Mars. SpaceX has since developed the Falcon launch vehicle family and the Dragon spacecraft family, which both currently deliver payloads into Earth orbit.


Spotify is a music, podcast, and video streaming service that was officially launched on 7 October 2008. It is developed by startup Spotify AB in Stockholm, Sweden. It provides digital rights management–protected content from record labels and media companies.
In November 2011, Spotify introduced a Spotify Apps service that made it possible for third-party developers to design applications that could be hosted within the Spotify computer software.


Tesla, Inc. is an American automaker, energy storage company, and solar panel manufacturer based in Palo Alto, California. Founded in 2003, the company specializes in electric cars, lithium-ion battery energy storage, and residential photovoltaic panels (through the subsidiary company SolarCity). The additional products Tesla sells include the Tesla Powerwall and Powerpack batteries, solar panels and solar roof tiles.


Vice Media LLC is a North American digital media and broadcasting company. Originating from the Montreal-based VICE magazine co-founded by Suroosh Alvi, Shane Smith, and Gavin McInnes (who left the company in 2008) VICE expanded primarily into youth and young adult–focused digital media, including online content verticals and related web series, the news division Vice News, a film production studio, and a record label among other properties. In 2015 VICE Media was called “[arguably] a poster child for new-media success—especially when it comes to attracting a valuable millennial audience.


Wieden+Kennedy is an independently owned American advertising agency best known for its work for Nike. Founded by Dan Wieden and David Kennedy, and headquartered in Portland, Oregon, it is one of the largest independently owned advertising agencies in the world.

Work & Co

Headquartered in Brooklyn, Work & Co is a relatively new entrant to New York’s design scene, but that hasn’t stopped it from making a big splash. Founded in 2013 by a cabal of ex-partners from Huge, Work & Co has designed websites, apps, chatbots, and other digital experiences for Virgin America, Aesop, Nike, Fast Company, and more. In addition, Work & Co’s slick design skills are so in demand that it is routinely entrusted with digital product innovation for companies like Apple, Google, Nike, and Facebook, which rarely approach outside design firms. Work & Co believes that its work will touch more than a billion people in 2016 alone. With revenue growing 70% year-over-year, 2017 should be an even bigger year for Work & Co, which has high-profile redesigns of Marriott’s and Aesop’s web experiences in the works for the first half of the year.
